Showcasing the best in emerging music every week.
Monday 11th August: The Mill, the exciting new platform for emerging music talent in Glasgow and Edinburgh today announces the line up for the venue’s launch party in Edinburgh on September 4th.
Experimental Jazz three piece The Action Group and Glasgow’s finest purveyors of electroclash, Velcro Quartet are joined by a DJ set from the mighty Ladytron.
The Mill represents the coming together of Miller Genuine Draft, key players in the emerging music scene, and the audience. There’s a simple manifesto: support those bands that are pushing the boundaries, both in their music and their approach and create a platform where they can play to their maximum potential. Developed to enable both emerging artists and their audiences to benefit from the rapidly changing landscape of the music industry by bringing them together in a direct and uncomplicated way, The Mill is real, honest and genuinely different.
Artists appearing will benefit from the investment in the venue’s lighting and sound as well as a unique promotional package, including having their live tracks mixed by established producer Tony Doogan and a live performance video. The live tracks will be available as free downloads at both themill-live.com and specially selected bars in Glasgow and Edinburgh via dedicated bluetooth enabled pods.
Artists appearing at The Mill will be chosen by a team of specially assembled industry experts, featuring the key movers and shakers of the Scottish music scene. Their goal is simple – to ensure The Mill delivers the very best in emerging talent on an ongoing weekly basis. The Mill opens every Thursday in Edinburgh and entry is free.
“We’re really looking forward to getting involved in The Mill” says Mira Aroyo, of Ladytron. “The whole music industry is changing fast. Bands don’t need necessarily traditional record companies any more and there’s a real DIY feel about the scene. This really taps into that and gives these emerging artists the chance to play on a bigger platform which can only be a good thing.”
