A day with the Sales team

Culturally Miller Brands is the best place I’ve worked. I really enjoy the people side of things – after all being in Sales is really about relationships. We pride ourselves in adding value to our customers and I believe there’s a lot of satisfaction to be had from working this way for all involved.

Morning

I’ve got some time in the morning to catch up on emails and call colleagues to respond to any enquiries that have come in. I work closely with my team to ensure that what we deliver is the right result strategically for both Miller Brands and our customers. Conversations could range from a discussion on pricing, the latest in ongoing negotiations, arranging for stock to be sent to a customer or simply touching base ahead of a busy day.

Mid Morning

in car

I’m often out and about. It’s a nice part of the job to get around the country and meet people but a good deal of my time is also spent working from home. I like the change in environment, though of course sometimes you do miss the day to day camaraderie of being in an office, this way of working does give me flexibility. I like to arrange meetings with people outside of their regular place of work.

Lunch

Having lunch with colleague

Lunch is often a quick sandwich when I’m working from home. When I’m in the office I can indulge myself with something substantial from the canteen, though I’m trying to stay in shape! Sometimes I have a working lunch with a customer as I like to arrange meetings with people outside of their regular place of work, it's good to take people away from their daily distractions sometimes and we do after all work in a sociable industry.

Afternoon

In a meeting

The afternoon might be spent with a customer in meetings. I often have to present to small groups of people. I get a lot of support from our marketing and other teams back at HQ and we have some compelling sales arguments. Negotiations can take some time and are often ongoing over some weeks. We hope to look after our customers so I’m always in close contact. We’re a successful business but we don’t want to rest on our laurels and there’s always something new coming up.

End of day

Socialising with colleagues

The end of the working day comes at different times! It’s usually a chance to check up on emails again and to touch base with my team.

It could even be rounded off with a well-deserved and perfectly chilled pint of Pilsner Urquell!
